SIREN

an underwater maternity experience

ONE HOUR

A FEW SECONDS

ZERO EXPERIENCE

HI, I'M CARA

I’m genuinely so happy you’re here, and I can’t wait to create something beautiful with you.

If you’re feeling a little nervous about the underwater part, please know that is completely normal. You don’t need to be a strong swimmer, know how to pose or be able to hold your breath for ages. I promise, we’ll take it as it comes.

There’s no pressure to get everything right straight away. We’ll have a play, find what feels comfortable for you and work together to create those beautiful moments. If something doesn’t feel right, we simply try something else. Your comfort always comes first.

I’ll be there to guide you through the whole experience, so you never need to wonder what you’re supposed to be doing.

This little guide has everything you need to know before your Siren experience, but if there’s anything I haven’t covered, or you have a question at all, just ask. I’m always happy to help. 🤍

A FEW THINGS TO KNOW

NO PRESSURE

How long the session will be

Is all we need underwater to get the shot

Is required

The session can be as easy or as challenging as you want

HOW THE DAY WILL RUN

02. INTO THE POOL

If you’ve chosen to include some above-water photos, we’ll start around the pool and capture some beautiful shots before we get in.

These can be nude, in togs, clothing or whatever you’re feeling on the day. We can have a play and get a nice little mixture.

01. ABOVE THE WATER

Next we’ll get you into the pool and ease into things. I’ll start by photographing you from outside the water while you’re in the pool, which creates some really dreamy perspectives and gives you a chance to get comfortable in the water first.

03. UNDERWATER MAGIC

Then I’ll pop my camera into its underwater housing, jump in with you and this is where the real fun starts. We’ll try different poses and ideas, some super simple and some a little more challenging. If something works, amazing. If it doesn’t feel good or just isn’t working for you, we move on. There are SO many things we can do and sometimes the simplest poses create the most epic images. You can be nude, wear togs, bring clothing or fabric, or we can do a mixture of everything.

BEFORE YOU ARRIVE

I’m often photographing a few mAMAS on the same day, so unfortunately I can’t extend your session if you arrive late.

ARRIVE 10 MINUTES EARLY

Try not to wear tight underwear, bras, track pants, socks or clothing before your session as they can leave marks on your skin. Loose and comfy is perfect.

COME IN LOOSE CLOTHING

If you can, please avoid fake tan before your session. It can photograph quite patchy underwater and is bloody hard to edit. If you already have tan on, don’t panic, just be aware that uneven tan can be quite noticeable underwater.

SKIP THE FAKE TAN

Please have something to eat beforehand and come hydrated. Underwater posing can be surprisingly tiring, especially while pregnant.

EAT + HYDRATE

A towel
Togs or clothing if you’d like to wear them
Any fabric, flowers, shells or props you want to play with

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

Come as you are, don't overthink it and don't feel like you need to practise anything beforehand.
We'll have a play, see what your body feels comfortable doing on the day and create something beautiful together.

you're ready
